DERMAL FILLERS
Dermal fillers are a soft tissue filler injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance due to aging and the loss of volume in certain areas of the face, as well as elasticity. Dermal fillers enhance features without surgery. Most of these wrinkle fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body. Some people may need more than one injection to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect. The effect lasts for about six months or longer. Successful results depend on health of the skin, skill of the health care provider, and type of filler used. Dermal fillers bring back a youthful, fresh appearance. Results are proven to last up to a year or more for many patients.

Am I A Good Candidate For Toxin?Toxin is a great treatment for people who don't want surgery, and want to enhance, or reduce wrinkles. Many of the areas on the face can be treated. Toxin can also be an effective treatment to raise the eyebrows and corners of the mouth. There are no medical contraindications to Toxin injections. Patients on blood thinning medication should not use them around the time of injection or potential bruising might occur.
-
How Does Toxin Work?Toxin blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox.
-
When Will I See The Effects Of The Toxin Treatment? The results can start to be seen the week after injections, and the optimal result can take up one month to be visible.
-
What Can Be Treated With Toxin?Toxin is official approved for treating several areas that form wrinkles. These are called dynamic wrinkles and usually don't show if the muscles are relaxed. Static wrinkles are wrinkles that still appear even when a face is completely relaxed. Static wrinkles usually don't find improvement from toxin.
-
How Long Does Toxin Last? The effects from toxin will last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and wrinkles need to be re-treated. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.
-
How Is A Toxin Procedure Performed?Getting Toxin takes only a few minutes and no anesthesia is required. Toxin is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes three to seven days to take full effect and it is best to avoid alcohol at least one week prior to treatment. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks before treatment as well in order to reduce bruising.
-
Do Toxin Injections Ever Become Ineffective?Toxin resistence can happen in very rare cases over time, but this is not a common occurence.
-
What Are the Side Effects Of Toxin?Temporary bruising is the most common side effect of toxin. Headaches, which resolve in 24-48 hours, can occur, but this is rare. A small percentage of patients may develop eyelid drooping. This usually resolves in three weeks. This usually happens when the toxin moves around so you shouldn't rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lay down for three to four hours.
-
Who Should Not Receive Toxin?Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease should not use toxin. Patients who have allergies to ingredients in toxin, certain muscle and nerve conditions, severe illnesses or infections, asthma or swallowing issues, bleeding problems, or heart disease. Since toxin doesn't work for all wrinkles, a consultation with a doctor is recommended.
